Thank you for choosing me to complete your tattoo! Please follow the guidance below to ensure it heals the best it can.

· tattoo healing guide ·

1. Leave the tattoo covered in the clingfilm I'll put on, until the evening of the day of your appointment.

2. With clean hands, remove and discard the film, then wash the tattoo with warm, soapy water, removing all dried blood, ink and plasma. (I recommend Sanex 0% wash.)

3. Leave the tattoo to air dry, or blot/dab with a clean paper towel. Don't use a towel or scrub vigorously; gently does it!

4. Apply a very thin layer of tattoo aftercare product with your fingers - I recommend Butterluxe tattoo balm - and rub it gently into the skin. A little goes a long way.

5. Re-wrap the tattoo in a fresh piece of cling film and sleep in this film; this will keep your bedsheets clean from excess ink, blood and plasma, which the tattoo secretes in the first 24 hours.

6. In the morning, repeat steps 2, 3 and 4, leaving the tattoo now unwrapped.

7. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 two to three times daily for the next couple of weeks. The tattoo will be tender to touch for a few days, then become dry and flaky as the skin heals over the trauma area.

8. While it is healing, do not bathe and soak the tattooed area (showering is fine), and avoid swimming pools, oceans, saunas, hot tubs, tanning beds, fake tan and over exposure to the sun. Also avoid picking or heavily scratching the tattoo.

9. Your tattoo is healed once the flaking subsides and the tattoo looks visibly softer and skin settled; roughly taking two to three weeks. Dark, saturated areas or bold lines can remain shiny for a while longer, usually another few weeks, but these will also settle in time.

10. If your tattoo is in need of a touch up once healed, get in touch within 6 months of your appointment and we can arrange a free touch up appointment.
